Airport Deicing Rule
Applies to: All airports that conduct aircraft deicing operations, and have 1,000 or more annual jet departures and 10,000 or more total annual departures
Requires: Collection of a specified percentage of runoff from deicing operations, and treatment if necessary before release (proposed rule)

    Applies to: Any vessel, except for military and recreational vessels, that discharges ballast water into U.S. waters
    Requires: Ballast water from any vessel must be discharged in according to the rules found in section 2.2.3 of the Vessel General Permit (even for vessels that do not require the permit to operate).

    Requires: Vessels must turn off auxiliary power generators and switch to land-based power while in port

    Applies to: All trucks operating in or passing through an area where state or local idling ordinances are in force. (There are no federal regulations limiting truck idling. However, more than half of U.S. states and dozens of cities and counties have enacted idling laws or ordinances.)
    Requires: Most frequently, idling laws limit the amount of time, in minutes, that a truck and operate its engine while not moving. Many exemptions apply, which can vary widely among locations and states.

    Requires: Facilities must obtain either a permit for direct discharge to the environment or a permit for discharge to a sewage treatment system

  • Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom)
    Applies to: Businesses that use hazardous chemicals at maintenance facilities, terminals, warehouses, etc.
    Requires: Employers that use hazardous chemicals in their facilities must have a program to ensure that information on risks associated with the chemicals, obtained from the chemical manufacturers, is communicated to anyone in the workplace who may be affected by the chemicals.

    Applies to:

    Any person who offers for transport or transports any materials that are regulated as "hazardous materials," including hazardous waste

    Requires:

    A diamond-shaped sign must be affixed to any motor vehicle that carries hazardous materials. The sign provides information about the type of hazard through special color, symbols, and indicator numbers, as specified in the regulations.
